I stopped by the Kitten Room today on my way up to SP#1. And this is what my first photos of the morning looked like.

I thought adult cats were hard to photograph. Kittens are even harder! They were so curious about me and my camera, well, and of course, so eager for some attention, that they were running and jumping all over the place. Since I shoot without a flash and the lights aren’t ideal for kitten portraiture, I had a tough time of it. (Well, “tough”… that’s not quite the right word, since I was laughing my head off the whole time).
I sort of got the hang of it after a few minutes and ended up with a few images of these sweet babies (although they are not all entirely in focus :-D ; I completely forgot to switch over to Shutter Priority  )
This little crew is full of energy! It’s amazing how different all of their personalities are. I could have spent the whole day with them, but also wanted to get up to my gang in Special Needs. Everyone was doing really well there. The highlight of my day was a long play session with Dasha, who astonished me with her quick feet and stamina. She looks so frail and unsteady; I never expected she still possessed such vitality. What a joy to see her leaping about, so full of exuberance.

Wonderful!
Thanks for your visit, Wazeau!
These photos are just too cute. The cat in the sink is perfect. I love the “whizzing by” blur of the first ones. That’s just exactly like kittens. You are so kind to go there every week to play with the cats. I know they look forward to it. Even Che knows the routine here and would miss it … so I know cats understand. I love your cat report!
It’s funny how there seems to be at least one sink cat in the bunch (in each room, at the shelter), sometimes more than, which is cause for traffic jams. In the Special Needs room, we now have four sink-drinkers (Katarina, Sox, Tiara, and Rascal). As the newcomer in the room, Sox didn’t know the rule about letting Tiara (the eldest female in the room) have first drink at the sink (there is an absolute hierarchy in the cat world, and it varies according to the activity; which I’ve gradually been figuring out), which left the others completely baffled. I have some funny video of Rascal and Katarina looking at Sox like he’s completely crazy when he breaks in line in front of Tiara one day. He looks like a complete goof ball in the video, totally oblivious to the infraction.
How funny. You should post the video for us. Of course, there is a pecking order among the cats. Cats of all kinds, you know.
Aww. It looks like you could’ve used more coffee to keep up with the wiggly little guys.
They’re adorable!
(But there are so many of them…
)
It’s funny you should mention that. I actually had an extra (as in additional) extra-large cup of coffee that day, which may also explain the blurriness
. I heard today, Pedro, that several of the kittens in the room may have pending adoptions, so that’s hopeful! But this is just the beginning of the season. There will be lots more to come. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that people will open their homes (and hearts!) to these little ones.
LOL! Photographs of kittens are often blurry because they seem to live those first few months IN a blur anyway.
Great photos – cat faces up close are always interesting…..and funny. Hope they’re all adopted lickety-split too!
Pam (and Sam)
Oh, my! the foreshortened black kitty with the big eyes and the tabby in the sink, I love them both!
Aren’t they precious?! They whole group is really adorable. Thanks for stopping by. I’m a bit late in replying.
Oh boy, I needed that today.
I’m glad you liked it. Thank you for stopping by!
They are so lovely, so lovely… How difficult to take kittens’ pictures…
made me smile… But yes, the cat in the sink and the others in the last, they are so beautiful photographs… Thank you dear Melanie, by the way I loved your own photograph too, you are so beautiful too. Have a nice day, with my love, nia
Nice to see the other side of Lemony. Makes me want to adopt them all and become a crazy cat lady.
