Boris and Sammy are the official receptionists of HOKAFI. They are usually the first ones to greet anyone coming through the front door.
I wish I had better photos but I was short on time (as I am tonight, so this post will be brief!). I’ve tried countless times to get Sammy’s photograph, but he is so eager to interact that all of my shots show a blur of his green eyes rushing the camera.
I look forward to opening the door every Wednesday because I know Sammy and Boris will always be on the other side. Sammy is deaf and Boris has some allergies (which seem to be the cause for the raw patches on his sweet face) but nothing holds these two back when it comes to their duties as official greeters, unless it’s nap time
, which always takes precedence, of course!

Sammy and Boris are adorable. I love Boris’s box bed. No matter how much I spend on fancy toys, my kitty Walter always prefers an empty paper sack or box to play with.
Hi, Lori! Thank you for your comment. Sammy and Boris are as sweet as they can be. Sammy is a BIIIIIG purr-box. My cats love paper sacks, too, and I keep meaning to bring some in for the kitties in SP#1. Thanks for the reminder! I love the name Walter for a cat.
These two are something else! Neither looks underfed. Boris’ new bed sign is really funny. He looks as if he isn’t asking; he’s ordering! Nice post. They always make me grin.
Yes, both Boris and Sammy are rather on the plump side. I don’t think anyone gives them extra food either. It could be side-effects for medications they take, who knows… They are certainly “well-rounded” cats. (Ha ha ha) There are some in SP#1 that are really big. Nutmeg is HUGE. I’m not sure how she fits through the flap door at this point. I’m amazed that the shelter staff/volunteers is able to offer to special diets to individual cats with health problems. It’s really an amazing place.
Very smart of Boris to make a sign for his box! I wish I could write, too.
Boris was very concerned about that box, and now he doesn’t have anything to worry about, now that he has made his wishes clear. We all respect Boris’s stuff.
I’d be pleased to be greeted by such a sweet pair, too! Thanks for sharing your mornings with us
Thank you so much for your nice words and your visit!
What a sweet pair of receptionists ! I too love the sign Boris has on his “bed”…..one man’s trash is another man’s treasure (or bed actually!!!!). Great pix. I love seeing your updates on the gang at the shelter.
Pam (and Sam)
They are a sweet pair, indeed. They really are so huggable and loving. Thank you so much for following the blog!
They are both so lovely and so adorable dear Melanie… I loved these photographs you captured so nicely… Thank you, Blessing and Happiness for you all, love, nia
